You’re an artist, a songwriter, a creative, all while being a student. You want to promote your brand and your work, but as it turns out, college requires a lot of time and money. That’s time and money that you don’t have to hire a professional team or invest in the newest application that “guarantees” results.
It doesn’t have to be that complicated, though. In the five minutes that it takes you to read this, you’ll discover four methods to promoting your personal brand virtually.
Let’s dive in.
Start Conversations
It’s hard to know where to begin when you want to promote your content, but I want you to remember one word: engagement.
Engagement is the sum of all interactions with your content. This includes likes, follows, comments, retweets—you get the idea.
Whether you’re a popular influencer or an emerging brand, real conversations create real connections. I’ll spare you the details of complex algorithms because the bottom line is that you must engage with your audience. Not only will it make your brand more accessible, but it will also give your content much more visibility on your follower’s feeds. The more eyes on your content, the more likely you are to grow your brand.
Instagram, in particular, promotes engaged profiles. To increase engagements on Instagram, make sure to respond to every comment with at least three words or more (and no, emojis don’t count). Likes might make us feel validated, but they’re ultimately passive interactions. The more comments under your post, the better, so don’t be afraid to start a conversation.
Use Crowdfire
Crowdfire is a personal favorite of mine. The service allows users to schedule and evaluate content with an intuitive interface. Within 24 hours of posting, you’ll be able to see important metrics like profile views, link clicks, and most popular hashtags. The platform makes it easy to recognize trends so that you can make adjustments on the fly.
While the service offers a premium subscription, I’ve found that the free version has all the tools I need. You won’t pay a dime to access some really valuable insights.
TikTok is Your Friend
The time has come to embrace TikTok. If you’re a creative looking to grow your brand, TikTok is the place for you. Its diverse user base makes finding your niche a whole lot easier.
TikTok’s algorithm is unique because it prioritizes content in your feed based on engagement. That’s why when you’re scrolling on your “for you page,” you’ll often see successful content from complete strangers, regardless of their “popularity.” Chances are, you know someone who knows someone who “blew up” on TikTok.
If you’re a songwriter, share your songs with lyrics to connect with the listener. If you’re a designer or fashion enthusiast, check out #fashiontok. If you run a small business, show viewers how you package an order or create your product. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
With a little bit of creativity and consistency, you’ll be on your way to growing your own community on TikTok.
Take Your Content to the Next Level with InShot
My main gripe with TikTok is that creating content can be confusing at times. InShot is a free video editing app that makes it easy to add transitions, filters, and other effects to your videos. Give it a shot the next time you make a “tok” and see what you think! You’ll be surprised by how professional your video looks!
I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your social media promotion. Though these tips may seem small, sometimes doing the little things can make all the difference.
Happy Instagramming and TikToking!
