Nestled within the heart of Green Hills, Rebecka’s Lingerie has been a beacon of elegance and empowerment for four and a half decades. As the boutique commemorates its 45th anniversary, it’s not just a milestone for the store but a testament to resilience and a celebration of womanhood.
On April 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Belmont’s own Tower Creative Communications will be hosting a unique display at the Green Hills Public Library, as Rebecka’s Lingerie presents an art exhibition like no other. This event isn’t merely about showcasing exquisite lingerie pieces; it’s a tribute to history, a celebration of diversity, and a platform for meaningful conversations.
In the wake of unprecedented challenges brought by the pandemic, the perseverance of Rebecka’s Lingerie shines brightly. With 1,120 Tennessee businesses closing their doors, this anniversary is a beacon of hope and endurance. It’s a testament to the enduring legacy of the original owner, Rebecka Vaughan Lambert, whose vision continues to inspire under the stewardship of her nieces, Adrienne Francis and Linda Curley.
“Helping people is the best part of this job,” said Adrienne Francis, current owner of Rebecka’s Lingerie. “Just knowing that you made a little bit of difference in that person’s life, that’s the fun part about it.”
The art exhibition promises to be a multi-faceted experience, showcasing the evolution of lingerie over the past 45 years. From iconic pieces that have stood the test of time to the latest innovations in materials and technology, attendees will embark on a journey through the history of lingerie fashion.
However, this exhibition is not solely about fashion; it’s about empowerment. Through fashion designs, sketches, and artistic representations, the event champions body positivity and women’s empowerment. Every piece displayed is a celebration of the female form, embracing diversity and encouraging confidence.
Central to the event are the enlightening discussions that will take place, covering a range of topics from women’s empowerment to the intricacies of boutique ownership. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts, sharing insights and experiences that go beyond the fabric and stitches.
A notable aspect of the exhibition is the involvement of Belmont University students, who will stand alongside seasoned artists, showcasing their creative talents. This collaboration not only underscores the symbiotic relationship between academia and industry but also highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of artistic talent.
“Belmont University students have embraced the idea to develop a strategic communications plan to highlight the importance of the iconic Rebecka’s Lingerie,” said Trenay Perry Bynum, advisor of the student-run agency, Tower Creative Communications (TCC). “The combined efforts of TCC and the event planning class, is a testament to the importance of fostering young talent and integrating academia with real-world experiences, ensuring a vibrant future for both artistry and empowerment.”
As the doors of the Green Hills Public Library open to welcome guests, Rebecka’s Lingerie invites the community to join in this celebration of elegance, empowerment, and endurance. For 45 years, the boutique has been more than just a purveyor of lingerie; it’s been a sanctuary where women find confidence, beauty and strength. And as the legacy continues, it reminds us all of the power of resilience and the enduring allure of timeless elegance.
